I refused to Tumble!

I remember seeing the Tumblr logo before it was the "it" thing to do in regards to blogging. I always remained faithful to my Live Journal and never went near Tumblr. My friend would always spend countless hours "tumbling". I never really understood why. I honestly didn't really get the point.

For one, I like being able to directly respond back to a follower of mine. With Tumblr you cannot. The whole direct communication is a bit off for me.
Second, I still do not really see the difference between Tumblr and your basic blogging site. I guess that is the case for everything. Hell, even Apple does it. Make products damn near exact in function, but there's always the one tiny feature that sucks you in.
Moving on, I gave in not too long ago and signed up for an account. It took me a while to get used to, but once I started to see that follower count go up I instantly fell in love. I admit that it's cool to see that others are interested in the same thing and they can reblog your stuff, but here is where my issue comes into play.
I've noticed that almost everything on Tumblr is the exact fucking same. It's kind of annoying to be honest. I dig that we all have similar interest, but it's getting to the point where I can blatantly see the norms of our society. The new norm of beauty seems to be a skinny, pale chick covered in tattoos with pastel hair. Don't get me wrong these women are beautiful. So let's see alt. models "alternative" are the exact same as high fashion models just covered in tats. Great. This topic in itself is a discussion for another day. It's just one of the most re-blogged things it seems.
My rant can go on, but I'll cut it short.
There's this new fad with the occult, upside down crosses and looking like a cross between Lady Gaga and Marilyn Manson. Since when was this "cool"? I used to teased for wearing all black; now it's the thing to do.
I'm tired of seeing the same tattoos and the same stupid gifs.
I appreciate what Tumblr brings to the table. We are able to literally connect through our posts, but in doing so I feel like it takes away from each post's uniqueness.
