My family and the tech world

I know that art was meant to be a part of my life, i just had to figure out an area that would help me make a living that is enjoyable. I remember switching from psychology to web design and my family was like wtf!?!? What are you going to do with web design? They weren't and still are not totally supportive of the idea. If I'm not going to be in scrubs or a business suit they don't want to hear it.
I really get tired of trying to explain to them that any place in the tech world is good to be, because the net nor is web design going anywhere. I don't care how bad the economy gets. That's something that the people refuse to give up.
It's hard to explain this to an older generation, but all I can do is be successful in the field and make them see that i chose correctly. Hopefully.

Money and Media

I wonder how those who cannot afford the latest gimmick get along. I feel like my world would fall to pieces and it probably would. I just think that it is sad that we are so reliant and technology serves as some sort of status symbol. I simply don't understand it. Why waste money on something you obviously do not need, when that money could go to a better cost. All the time I see men in cars with big rims nice new paint but they live in a freakin hole. WTF...
Is this all we are? Are we really all that we buy? It's like our possessions really aren't possessions in the sense that they own us. So we are their possessions.

Voxer

So I remember bitchin' about how much I hated talking on the phone. Ta-Da they created texting. Over a period of time I got tired of having to rotate, open, and shut my phone. Plus my thumbs hurt. Then the touch screen cam out with the touch keyboard and it made picking out a phone that much more difficult. My friend just recently told me about this app for iphones and androids called voxer. She described it as walkie talkies for your phone. At first I was like WTF?! lol I remember using walkie talkies back in the day to mess with people on other channels.
I was skeptical at first then I really got into it. Of course I texted all my friends to download the app because that would be the only way we could both use it.
The app itself is kinda buggy, but it beats texting. Go figure... Not too long we complained about talking,so they invented texting. Now it's back to talking. It's funny how things come back into trend.
